NBA PLAYOFFS FIXED?

With four teams remaining in the NBA playoffs, The critics may have spoken too early predicting a Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics rematch-or have they?

The lakers and celtics both had dominating 2-0 series leads, with easy wins against their opponents, however both the Phoenix Suns and Orlando Magic have come back to win two consecutive wins and extending the playoff series.

Now the NBA is a big business, and that is understandable, but the NBA should not be ”controlled” like the WWE! 

To the average NBA fan, it may look like momentum is the key to the to winning game in the playoffs, but if you study the stats you might be shocked.

In the past two games that the suns have won against the lakers, the suns have shot 50+ more free throws than the lakers.  This is after the  lakers won by 20+ points in the first two games.  Coincidence ? I think not.  David Stern has been known to make certain unpopular decisions as the NBA commissioner, and in this economy the revenue in extra games wouldn’t hurt anybody.

Still not convinced…Tonight in the Orlando Magic vs. Boston Celtics game, Kendrick Perkins of the celtics was given two technical fouls that were extremely questionable.  These two technical fouls will keep Kendrick Perkins, the star center of the celtics, suspended for the next game.  If the Magic when next game, they will tie the series at 3-3 and have a chance to win in a best of 7 game series.

David Stern, stop milking the NBA playoffs for everything it has, and let the teams play!

“MVP” comes up short…AGAIN!

Last night the Boston Celtics eliminated the Cleveland Cavaliers in game 6 of the eastern conference semi-finals. 

Second consecutive year MVP, Lebron James scored 27 points, grabbed 19 rebounds, and had 10 assists, but you can’t forget his 10 turnovers.

The Cavs were eliminated last year by the Orlando Magic, and the Celtics had their way with them, winning the series 4-2. 

The Cavs had the best record in the regular season, and everything was great as they boasted frequently during every victory, but when it game down to the post season, the Cavs just couldn’t cut it.

The alleged “MVP” has used a plethora of excuses since, blaming the losses on his “sore elbow” (which MRI’s should to be fine), his coach Mike Brown (who won coach of the year last year), and lack of a supporting cast (Even with this years additions including Shaq, and Antwan Jamison).

Rumors are all over ESPN, that James is likely to leave his hometown of Cleveland, looking for a new team with “better help, and coaching.”

As a Laker fan, even though I may be bias, I am absolutely sick of LeBrick James.  He takes the hype when the Cavs are winning, but blames everyone but himself when they can’t win the big games.  He compares himself to the great Michael Jordan, but yet he chokes under pressure.  He calls himself the “King”, yet he has no rings.  Lebron maybe looking for a better team, but what NBA players are going to want to be the scapegoats when “Fit hits the shan.”

Quit your whining LeBron, stay loyal to your hometown, your teammates, your team,  and just put in more hard work.

Lastly, watch and learn as Kobe Bryant plays for his 5th NBA championship.

Hall of Fame Taylor faces rape charges.

According to espn.com Pro Football Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor was charged Thursday with raping a 16-year-old runaway who police said was forced into prostitution by a man who had beaten her up.

Taylor, a 51-year-old former Giants star who has faced drug and tax evasion charges in the past, ”apparently” paid the girl $300 for sex in a Holiday Inn, where he was arrested early Thursday, according to Christopher St. Lawrence, supervisor of the town of Ramapo.

According to Police , Rasheed Davis took the young girl in around this past March, in return for sexual favors and work as one of her prostitutes.  Apparently the incident was set up through a third party, and Davis drove the girl to Taylor’s hotel room.  From there the girl texted her uncle to let her know she was in “trouble”.

Taylor was woken up at 4am by police.  He is said to been very cooperative, but denied all allegations. 

Taylor does not know Davis.  I personally think that this sounds like a set up.  Though Taylor has had a troubled past, he has been working towards improving his reputation.  He has been on several reality televison shows, and has helped out with NFL network this year.  This underage girl has been living with Davis for over a month.  Davis who is out on parole for first degree manslaughter, has been working with the girl.  Is it just coincidence that the girl has been working as a prostitute for over a month, and once she provides her “services” for Hall of Famer Taylor, she crosses trouble? 

Taylor is denying any type of sex with anyone, and is confident this will all be over soon, and justice will be served for these false allegations.

Now I may be eating my words when the truth comes out and this case is over and done with, but im confident that Taylor is innocent.  He is a perfect candidate to attack, and with all these athletes and their infidelities in the media, its sad to see these icons being targeted.

“Drill Baby Drill”

A couple weeks after the oil rig explosion in the Gulf of Mexico, s 10-day fishing restriction was  imposed Sunday by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.  This covers an area between the mouth of the Mississippi River in Louisiana to the waters off Florida’s Pensacola Bay.

Environmentalists are very upset about this incident, but it seems as if people in the billion dollar fishing industry will feel it most.

210k gallons of crude oil is being pumped into the ocean everyday, and the damage is said to last for decades to come.

Oil giant BP is doing their “best” to take control of the situation, but unfavorable weather conditions have haulted their efforts.

One worker in Alabama stated “All I know is seafood,”  while sorting crawfish in small workroom behind the kitchen. “I don’t know what we’ll do if this hits. It feels like a hurricane is coming, but what can you do to stop oil?”

After taking a marine biology course this past semester at Santa Monica College, I feel terrible for the marine life and their habitat, but it was an accident. I also cant imagine the fear in the heart of worker in the fishing industry as the future is unknown for them. As for oil giant BP , the company will certainly be hit hard as 210k gallons of oil loss everyday will hurt.  BP is a legitimate scapegoat for now, but our daily littering kills more marine life every year than an oil spill.  Let’s not be hypocrites!

Hawking: Aliens’ may pose risks to Earth?

According to msnbc.com British physicist Stephen Hawking says aliens are out there, but it could be too dangerous for humans to interact with extraterrestrial life.

Hawking claims in a new documentary titled “Into the Universe With Stephen Hawking” that intelligent alien life forms almost certainly exist — but warns that communicating with them could be “too risky.”

Hawking stated, ”We only have to look at ourselves to see how intelligent life might develop into something we wouldn’t want to meet.  I imagine they might exist in massive ships … having used up all the resources from their home planet. Such advanced aliens would perhaps become nomads, looking to conquer and colonize whatever planets they can reach.”

He believes that it’s certain life beyond the Milky Way exists, and that attempted communiation can lead to a potential visit from these “Alien’s”, would be similar to Columbus “discovering” the Americas, which didn’t turn out to well for the Indians.

Hawking is a well known scientist for his work he has done on space, but is also well known for doing this while dealing with his neural disease that causes paralysis.

The most interesting part of this article is the end, where it mentions “Into the Universe With Stephen Hawking” a television shown that  recentkly aired in United States on the Discovery Channel on Sunday, and is due for broadcast in Britain next month.

Now here we have a famous scientist claiming that movies’ like Star Trek or Star Wars may not be fiction after all.  Is the publishing of this article and premire of his T.V. show coming out simultaneously a coincidence? I’ll leave that for you to decide.  I now understand subliminal advertising, and why people would spend money to do it!

Congratulations to Stephen Hawking, famous scientist…and marketing genius?

Another case of “15 minutes of FAME”.

Tiger Woods returned to golf this past week for one of the biggest events in the sport known as “The Masters”.  Tiger may have expected jokes, and hostility from certain fans, but according to perezhilton.com someone has taken it to another level.  Apparently a Tiger Woods  “insult plane” flew over the tournament twice during the opening of the event.  The plane carried two banners, one reading “Tiger did you mean bootyism? “, and the other reading “Sex Addict? Yeah.Right. Sure. Me too!”

As discussed in our last class, people will really do anything for fame.  As if Tiger hasn’t been exploited enough, this is just taking it to another level.  Marital issues are personal problems, and should not affect anyone who is not within that family.  Tiger was bashed enough these past couple of months, and whoever was in charge of this incident makes me sick.  They are a disgusting person.  They should be bashed more than Tiger himself.  This inhumane act shows how low people will stoop for their 15 minutes of fame. 

People make mistakes, and people have done much worse than Tiger, yet people like to exemplify their lack of class through incidents like this.  Imagine if everytime you made a mistake, you were publicly scrutinized and embarrassed by people you don’t even know.  People need to stop hating, and focus on making themselves better, while offering their compassion to those who have made mistakes they are regretful of.

Raiders QB like’s throwing money into “Black Hole.”

According to Tmz.com, Raider’s draft bust, JeMarcus Russel was spotted gambling at the Palms resort and casino this past saturday.  After showing up to training camp  two weeks ago, and tipping the scales at nearly 300 lbs, of pure…weight, it’s obvious football is not one of his top priorities.  The past 3 seasons, Russel has been nothing more than terrible, as his job as starting QB is now in jeopardy.

Though he signed a $60 million dollar contract after being drafted in the first round, the old saying remains true in that “Money does not grow on trees.”  Lets take  Mike Tyson, he reportedly spent $500 million on God knows what, and is now broke.  Allen Iverson is a current example, losing his  wealth through addictions to alcohol and GAMBLING! 

Im not saying that athletes shouldnt have fun, but their ignorance can lead them to failure in a blink of an eye.  Everyday in the media, there is a new athlete making a bad choice.  Theses athletes are “New money”, and think that financial freedom has been permanently achieved, and the money will keep on coming. 

With the start of training camp, and the season around the corner, JeMarcus Russel need’s to stay on track, especially since the Oakland Raiders have made it clear they are looking for a new QB.  The economy is almost has bad as Russel’s performance.   Instead of throwing down money in Vegas, Russel needs to throw some money down on an IRA or 401 k, since his future look’s anything but bright.

Russian bombers flying in British airspace…AGAIN?

According to cnn.com, Since 2009 there have been over 20 incidents where the Russians have been flying “Tu-160 bombers” — known as Blackjacks by NATO forces, in British airspace.

The Russians have denied these allegations, until recently there have been clear images taken by the British Royal Airforce crew.  These pictures show the bombers flying “dangerously close” to British planes.  The bombers have the name  Vasily Reshetnikov in Russian lettering near the cockpit.  Reshetnikov was a celebrated Soviet pilot who fought on the Eastern Front in World War II.

Some are saying the increase of Russian aircrafts in international airspace show Russia is flexing its muscles as it re-emerges as a global military player. 

These inicidents that may seem small can incite anger between two countries. 

After I looked at the comments below the online article, people from both countries begin to go at it.

One British reader said ” We should have shot the first one down and said …’Oops, we are so dreadfully sorry old chap (Putin)!”

The responses to this comment were very colorful, and caused serious hostility between opposing sides.

I almost agree with the guy though, I mean come on Russia, 20 times in forbidden British airspace since 2009, thats a slap in the face!

I wonder what the good ole’  Red, White, and Blue would do if Russia was flying into our airspace?

We can leave that to our imagination.  We don’t need a W.W.3. (At least not in our lifetime )

Obama believes in Tiger!

According to media outlet Perezhilton.com, Our First African-American President commented about the first African-American professional golfers latest misforutnes. 

Obama stated,

“I think that Tiger has acknowledged that he betrayed his family, and that’s a personal issue that he’s got to work out. I hope they’ve worked it out, and I’m sure he’s going to still be a terrific golfer.”

Looks like Obama is more confident about Tiger’s return to the greens than to his wife.  Obviously he will still be a “terrific golfer.”  Tiger Woods has dominated the game of golf  for the past decade, and marriage problems won’t  ruin his game . 

Obama has more important thing to worry about.   Media needs to stop asking about things irrelevant Obama, and let him work on all the “Change” he promised.

Maybe they should of ask Bill Clinton’s opinion next time.

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback “Big Ben Roethlisberger” has  been accused of sexual assault…AGAIN! Once in Reno, and now  for the second time at a local college bar in Midgeville, Georgia.

Ben, your a 28-year-old multi-millionaire athlete,  there is no need to put yourself in a situation where you have to deal with these problems.   If  you really need a fix, come to one of the trendy clubs in Los Angeles, and the gold diggers will be the one’s assaulting you!  I mean come on,  It has been just one year since you were sued by the woman in Reno.  If this goes to court you could be in a lot of trouble, especially when you pose in picutres drunk (look at above posted link) with multiple women wearing shirts that say “drinking champion”.

Don’t forget your a professional athlete, be a role model! All this drinking is not good for your career, or your appearnce,  You’re begining to resemble actor Will Ferrell lately.
